What is VivAer?

VivAer is a narrow device, a small, hand-held stylus, that is placed gently into your nose to help open and remodel the nasal valve airways using radiofrequency energy. This helps to minimize swollen passageways and resolve the nasal obstruction.

Breathe easy with the VivAer® Procedure - Jamie's story

How Does VivAer Resolve Nasal Obstruction?

Your nasal valve, the triangular area within your nasal passage, is made up of three parts:

  • Septum: the bone and tissue between the nostrils.
  • Turbinates: tissues that warm, humidify, and direct air flowing into your nose
  • Lateral Wall: side tissues that form the outer wall of your nose

Nasal airway obstruction happens when any of these structures become enlarged or inflamed, reducing airflow through the nasal passages and causing congestion, difficult breathing, snoring and other concerns.

Using radiofrequency energy, VivAer gently reshapes the structures within the nasal passages, opening them up to allow better airflow. You’ll begin to feel a noticeable improvement in your breathing immediately.

Am I a Candidate for VivAer?

VivAer treatments are minimally invasive (requiring no incisions of any kind), effective, and very safe. If you’re experiencing the following symptoms, you may be a candidate for VivAer:

  • A chronic stuffy nose and/or persistent nasal blockage that does not respond to other treatment
  • Difficulty breathing through the nose
  • Broken, difficult sleep
  • Loud snoring
  • Difficulty inhaling enough air during activity

Benefits of VivAer

  • Convenient, short treatment (less than 15 minutes)
  • Doesn’t require general anesthesia
  • Minimally invasive
  • No incisions
  • No downtime or recovery period
  • Effective, clinically-proven treatment
  • No side effects

What Happens During the VivAer Treatment?

The inside of your nose will be numbed with a local anesthetic. The VivAer device is then gently inserted into the nostrils to deliver controlled, low-temperature radiofrequency energy into the nasal valves. The tip of the stylus is used to gently reshape the tissues to create more room inside your nose, which allows easier breathing. The VivAer device also helps to shrink swollen, inflamed turbinates. You may feel a bit of pressure during the procedure, but you will not experience pain.

Recovery and Results After Treatment

Your recovery period is relatively minimal, and you can return to your usual activities and routines immediately afterward.  Expect some discomfort or congestion for 1-2 days, and some crusting of the treatment sites for several weeks, which you may treat with medicated ointment we provide.

Clinical studies show a 94% response to VivAer treatment, and an 88% overall patient satisfaction with results.
