What is ClariFix?

ClariFix is a safe treatment performed with a nasal probe that targets the source of sinusitis with cryotherapy (cold therapy). Cryotherapy targets a small, inflamed area in the back of the nose to effectively interrupt the signals to the nerves which cause it to swell and drip. The selective freezing of tissues relieves inflammation, pain, and other symptoms of sinusitis.

Am I a Candidate for ClariFix Treatments?

Patients experiencing the following chronic symptoms that don’t resolve with medication or other treatments are likely candidates for ClariFix treatments:

  • Post-nasal drip
  • Congestion
  • Nasal itching
  • Sneezing
  • Runny nose
  • Itching
  • Inflammation
  • Nasal pain
  • Poor sleep

What Happens During the ClariFix Procedure?

Your treatment begins with a local anesthetic. Once this has taken effect, an endoscope is placed into the back of your nose, along with the ClariFix device. These devices are moved gently to the back of your nose where the important nerves are located. Your doctor will use the endoscope’s camera to see the area of inflammation caused by the improperly functioning nerves, then apply the cryotherapy to those nerves to interrupt the signals to the nerves that are causing the symptoms. The process takes just a few minutes per nostril. You will feel slight pressure, a cooling sensation around the nose, and minimal discomfort. The procedure is not described as painful.
