Suffering From Chronic Sinus Issues?

Sinuses are air-filled cavities in the skull (bone). They are located behind your cheekbones, forehead, and eyes. The sinuses make mucus, which helps keep your nose from drying out and getting irritated. Sinus surgery is done to repair damage to the sinuses and improve drainage. It can also be done to remove blockages that cause infection.

What Types of Sinus Surgery Are There?

Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery (FESS)

This is the most common type of sinus surgery. It is done using an endoscope, a thin, flexible tube with a light on the end. The endoscope is put through the nostrils into the sinuses. The surgeon uses it to see inside the sinuses and remove any blockages.

Ethmoidectomy

This surgery is done to remove blockages in the ethmoid sinuses, located between the nose and the eyes. The surgeon makes a small cut in the bone between the nose and eye and removes the blockages.

Maxillary Antrostomy

This surgery is done to remove blockages in the maxillary sinuses, located behind your cheekbones. The surgeon makes a small cut in the bone of your cheek and removes the blockages. These are just a few of the different types of sinus surgery that are available.
